McDonald’s to Establish Its First Global Capability Centre in Hyderabad, India

McDonald’s is set to launch its first Global Capability Centre (GCC) in India, choosing Hyderabad as the location for this strategic expansion. Scheduled to commence operations by mid-2025, the centre will occupy a 2 lakh square foot space at RMZ Nexity Tower 20. This will be McDonald’s largest GCC outside the United States, accommodating approximately 2,000 employees.

The decision to establish a GCC in Hyderabad highlights the city’s growing prominence as a global corporate and innovation hub. With a rental rate of around ₹90 per square foot, the facility will serve as a key hub for McDonald’s global business, technology, and analytics operations.

McDonald’s expressed its vision for the Hyderabad centre in a LinkedIn post, stating that its global offices function as innovation and operations hubs to enhance its talent pool and expertise. The Hyderabad GCC will consolidate capabilities across business, technology, analytics, and AI, accelerating the company’s ability to develop impactful solutions for customers worldwide.

The company has officially registered “McDonald’s Capability Centre India Pvt Ltd” with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. It has also begun hiring for various roles, including cyber defence, testing, infrastructure engineering, cloud operations, facilities management, and HR. This recruitment drive aligns with the establishment of McDonald’s Global Technology and Operations Team and its Global Security Operations Centre in Hyderabad.

Hyderabad has emerged as a prime destination for GCCs, with multinational corporations increasingly setting up operations in the city. In 2024 alone, office space transactions in Hyderabad reached 12.5 million square feet, representing 19% of the 66.4 million square feet transacted across six major Indian cities. Of this, GCCs accounted for 4.7 million square feet, demonstrating their significant contribution to the city’s commercial real estate market.

McDonald’s, a global fast-food giant with over 37,000 locations across more than 100 countries, operates largely through independent franchisees, employing around 1.9 million people worldwide. The establishment of its Hyderabad GCC underscores its commitment to leveraging global talent and technological advancements to drive innovation and operational efficiency.
