The project seeks to attract global AI companies and foster innovation. A foundation-laying ceremony and the Global AI Summit, scheduled for September 5-6, will mark the project’s launch. The summit will feature global experts discussing AI’s societal benefits. Sridhar Babu and state officials will also visit the U.S. to engage with IT leaders and seek investment for the city.

Hyderabad — The Telangana government has announced a groundbreaking initiative to establish India’s largest Artificial Intelligence (AI) city, set to be constructed on the outskirts of Hyderabad. This visionary project aims to create a thriving AI ecosystem and attract top global companies to set up their AI centers in the region.

The Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) has earmarked 200 acres of prime land along the Outer Ring Road, spanning the Maheshwaram, Serilingampally, Chevella, and Ibrahimpatnam mandals, for the development of this state-of-the-art AI city. According to Sridhar Babu, the project will surpass similar initiatives in other states in both scale and timeline. For instance, Uttar Pradesh has also announced plans for an AI city in Lucknow, but with only 40 acres allocated and a projected completion date of 2030, it falls significantly short of Telangana’s ambitious endeavor.

In contrast, Telangana’s AI city is set to be completed by 2028, making it India’s pioneering AI hub, five times larger than the proposed Lucknow facility. The state government plans to commence the project with a foundation-laying ceremony scheduled for September. To kick off the development, the Global AI Summit will be hosted at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre on September 5-6. The summit, themed “Making AI Work for Everyone,” will explore the transformative potential of AI across various sectors.

The summit will feature keynote addresses and panel discussions led by international AI experts, technology leaders, policymakers, and academicians. Over 50 speakers will engage with an audience of approximately 2,000 delegates, delving into AI’s societal benefits, safe AI practices, its role in industry innovation, and its broader impact.

In preparation for the summit, Sridhar Babu, alongside Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and other senior officials, will embark on a visit to the United States from August 3-11. The delegation aims to engage with leading global IT firms, extend invitations to the summit, and seek investment opportunities for the AI city.

The Hyderabad AI City will host key players across various fields, including agriculture, healthcare, education, law enforcement, and mobility. The Telangana government has collaborated with industry pioneers, academic experts, startups, and policy advisors to co-create an AI framework that fosters innovation and ensures responsible AI deployment for social good.

With this ambitious project, Telangana is poised to set a new benchmark in AI development, positioning Hyderabad as a leading global destination for AI innovation and investment.
